October updates - Patch 2.2 release date + More scripting updates
Okay I got three things I want to talk about
1. Patch 2.2 will be released next sunday. It will add a custom property script and some more stuff. I am already done with the custom property script, but i want to implement some other things into the patch and test it out until the next weekend.
It works like this: You buy a custom property for 10 million. You can only buy one per account. When you use /proploc to your property you will enter a unique world for your property and you will be able to build objects there. When you save the objects they will be loaded and deleted when the first player enters and when the last player exits the property.
Due to the fact that VC-MP can only have 3000 objects spawned at the same time (by the scripters), I am putting a 50 object limit for now. I might increase it to 100 though. But I am telling you 50 objects is a lot. I designed the script in a smart way so that if no one is in your property the objects there isn't spawned so therefor they don't count for the 3000 object limit.
You will also be able to add shared owners to your custom property. Level 3 and higher will be able to delete and create objects in your property.
2. As you guys know I am busy at the university. During the summer I was very quick with everything and gave you guys new content very often. I am here to tell you that I will not be keeping up the same phase now that I am at the university. So therefor don't expect to see a patch every month or so.
NE.CrystalBlue is going to start scripting more too so we can get more job done faster. When patch 2.2 is released don't expect another patch until at christmas or later. NE.CrystalBlue and I might release another 2.x patch though but we will see. I will mainly focus on the mini-game system and adding more races, missions and duels and other stuff. So that when patch 3.0 release you guys will have a lot of content. I will also add more stuff in patch 3.0
3. Okay this is just for the interested people. I've been working on implemented my own NPC's. They will not be like in the single player version at all. They will most likely be dummy's. Right now I have made the following:
- I can make the dummy rotate to the location he is walking to.
- I can make the dummy see players in front of him just like a human. If you are within the dummy's field of view he will detect you and for now just say: Detected.
- I can also get a position in front of the dummy based on the distance I enter in.
Implementing the second one was horrible. It was extremely hard and after trying all the math I knew to solve that problem, I realized that VC-MP coordinate/angle/rotating system is messed up and just stopped basing my calculation of it and I finally got it to work.
So pretty much the hardest part of implementing an NPC is done. You can maybe expect to see NPC's like this in the missions. But unfortunately the only way they can attack you would be creating an explosion. I was thinking about using them for stealth missions and other stuff, but I will also try to use them for other stuff.

Yes but you can't really update XML files to my knowledge without restarting and re-downloading the file + If you use XML files everyone can steal your work.

That would require a lot more work and wouldn't be worth it. Even if someone comes up with a genius way to do it, it's still safe from 99.99 % of the population. Everyone can steal a XML file even the biggest retard in the VC-MP can steal your work without downloading anything or using even a bit of brain power, by simple opening up the right folder.

I think this topic could be of interest to read for everyone who missed it.
One more thing I wanted to say: I love some of the creativity properties you guys have build. I wanna give some advise though to the players who are interested:
1. Use /sensitivity <1-100> I recommend setting it to a low value so you can place your objects more professionally. I see some stairs and things that could be placed a little better if they would've used a lower sensitivity.
2. Be careful adding objects that are not solid. You can't shoot them and select them and if you have 100 objects it might be hard to figure out which one is the non solid object (with just objectselect)
3. One more thing: If some of you are selecting the same object and one of you deletes the object it might cause some trouble for the script. I've made a smart script that should resolve it, but if you wanna be easier on the script and not do this so often it would be appreciated.
4. If you make a house and the camera goes through the wall then place a couple of garage doors and use /objectalpha 0 on them (and don't forget to press P) and the garage ports will prevent the camera from going through the walls. Just make sure you don't waste too many objects doing that
