August updates - Patch 2.0 Release date, Treasure hunting and More
This my monthly short topic to update you guys on server and maybe the forum. If I ask a question please answer it.
1. I am setting the deadline for patch 2.0 to come out on 9th of August. It might be released earlier, but I just want a deadline.
2. The treasure hunting event for August will be coming probably on 7th of August to 9th of August. I might delay this to the week after that if I am extremely busy with the patch though.
3. I just quickly want to talk about some of the inactive admins in-game. Some admins are on a LOA and others are simple lazy and don't visit the server, but most of the admins actually visits the server regularly. I want you guys to know that I am constantly in contact with inactive admins to come up with a solution. Two of our admins have been inactive for several months for good reasons, but I've talked to them it seems like they will be back in august. Before I start studying at the university again, I am going to do an inactive check and kick every inactive admin from the staff.
4. Okay I want to talk about the upcoming patch and objects. I don't like it when people add shitty islands that doesn't look realistic and doesn't fit in world of VC-MP. Most people add all types of shit to their map that just makes the map weird and doesn't feel like VC-MP.
I personally don't mind adding a door or a secret admin office underground, since that doesn't take you out of the experience or makes the map not feel like Vice city. In the upcoming patch I am going to add some objects for the property system. I personally feel like the objects are placed professionally and doesn't look out of place.
I got a question for you guys do you mind if I change some locations a little bit for example: I add another garage door at the cherry poppers, or put up some fences and gates at certain locations. I promise you that I will not make it look shitty by placing the objects weird or anything. Please come to the scripting test server and check some of things out if you don't want it to be a surprise when I bombard you guys with the patch. Please do not be afraid to be honest.
5. I am just going to talk about some upcoming patches. After patch 2.0 is released I am going to continue to release more 2.0 patches that will add more properties, objects and maybe some other minor things. The custom property script will also be included in one of the patches.
6. Patch 3 will also come and I will start working on it as well as with other 2.0 patches. But take in mind that patch 3 might not come for a long time because I am busy studying at the university. So expect to see it either during winter break or next summer break. Hopefully the 2.0 patches I release until then is enough.
Patch 3.0 ideas includes Achievements, Missions, NPC's (Using objects (currenty objects can move, they can register shots, bumps and currently there is one way they could attack by and that is by creating explosions) and a mini-game system. I can't say that all of it will happen, but I want to script a mini-game system so badly since there are no limits as to what mini-games I can create and it's probably the thing players are going to enjoy the most.
7. Talking about spawnweps. I am going to be scripting a spawnwep command, but just like the nogoto command it will not be saved in the database, that means that you have to do /spawnweps every time you join the server. Why? I personally believe that most people don't mind that players teleport to them most of the time and therefor don't care if nogoto is off sometimes. The problem is that the average player always prefer what requires the least amount of effort. In most people's mind, not typing /nogoto off outweighs having players being able to teleport to you. Even though most people don't mind that others teleport to them because they just want to DM anyways. This usually leads to more boring gameplay, because you have to run/drive to a player to fight him when you just want to DM.
My solution to this is to have nogoto always off by default and you can set it to on, if you really don't want to be bothered. My argument for this being a better way to implement nogoto is that putting /nogoto on when you don't want to be bothered by people that DM is actually worth the effort! When typing /nogoto off is not.
The same thing applies to spawnwep. Typing /spawnweps every time you want to only use spawnweps is worth effort, but disabling /spawnweps is not worth the effort to most people and therefor there will be less variety in the combat and just make the gameplay even more the same, which will make it boring at a lot faster.

As I said in my post the normal properties will come first and shortly after the custom properties will come. When I use the word "shortly" I of course mean in terms of scripting time. Most of the work for the custom properties is already finished. But I think it's better to release the normal properties first and then release the custom ones later.
What do you mean by the office? The office won't have anything special in it, it will just have an elevator the owner or the members with a high enough rank can lock.

When you say "some people" I assume you're talking about VK.Andriusas91, because I am pretty sure he is the only one saying that
When every player sees the patch themselves they can judge if I've been lazy or not

I am going to try to get everything finished by tomorrow. But I still need to add one more property, add some minor stuff to the script, test everything one last time and add the code to the normal server. So we'll see if I add the update tomorrow or on sunday as planned.
The treasure hunting event will start next week most likely, since I am busy with the patch. I will announce the day of the event one day in advance. Either way stay updated if you're interested of winning the whole thing

I pretty much added everything and got the script ready for transfer. But as you guys know there might always be some bug. I spent 6 hours today trying to get everything finished, but I unfortunately got too tired. What I got left is:
- Updating /info & /help + all the messages that shows up to tell you to use those commands. This is probably the most important thing to make new players interested in the server. I want it perfect.
- I want to make a /news command to tell people in-game what I add & I need to update the event messages.
- I need to add the custom airplane after I restart the server to make way for the patch.
This shouldn't take long I will probably do it before I go away tomorrow. But my question is: If I release the patch tomorrow right before I go, there is a risk that something might go wrong. Me, Sufy, Luca and a lot of admins tested the script a lot, but there could always be more bugs and If I am away for the whole day I might not be able to fix them until the day afterwards.
So what do you guys think should I release the script tomorrow and you guys will try to keep the server together if something horrible happens or should I wait until monday? Please send a PM to Boss giving your opinions if you want to of course.
