[Denied] Suggestion - expanding IRC features.

Well, some of us remain active on irc, i am 12+ hours active there, keeping an eye on the server.
So, i want all basic cmds there, with join/quit and kill/death msgs.
IRC is the secondary most important part of the server, from where we can managae the server.
Foolowing are the cmds which can be added easily.
!ann, !kick, !drown, !slap, !ip, !setweather, !settime, !mute, !unmute, !freeze, !unfreeze, !ban, !unban, !ip, !alias, !tempban, !untempban and whatever best you can add.
This is the very basic cmds, we can say almost all servers with IRac have these cmds.

PS: $players should show the total no. of players too and ban too doesn't work on IRC.

My focus is on the server unfortunately. I am not interested in spending my free time scripting IRC when I can script important stuff for the server itself.

It's actually not as hard as you think, you can even take commands from the server files which are needed for IRC and copy and paste them into the IRC files, then you just have to change the snippet a little to turn it into a IRC command, literally takes me about 2 mins per cmd. If you understand what I mean,

Angel is too lazy for this. He wants me to literally PM him a whole new file just for a few lines that he can extract to the scripts folder for any IRC update!!!

1. Yeah sure I am the lazy one around here it only took you like 6 months to fix IRC... while I was busy releasing the 7th patch for the server or something, while being at the university. May I remind you of everything that has been scripted for this server by you has either been broken or not finished. You're a talented scripter, there is no doubt about that, but you honestly stop scripting something when it's 90 % done because you don't feel challenged anymore.

2. You can send me the code as well as long as you with much detail tell me where to insert it. Btw you can probably just copy paste the file in code format in a PM, I don't think it's that long.

3. It's up to crystal if he wants to script something for IRC. If he doesn't then I might do it in the future when I am done with the server scripting. I have a limited amount of time and I rather spend it adding something cool/useful to the server that takes place in the game you're playing and not on IRC.

The game is connected with IRC. If someone is administrating a server then IRC is must, like i can't be 24/7 active in the server because i'm at work. If i have access to a proper IRC it'll be excellent, i'll be able to look into the server after every 5 minutes.

1. It's not going to be used that often. I don't believe I have ever seen anyone kick someone from IRC.
2. There are already working systems in-game.
3. Tell me how you can actually detect a rule break that is not chat related on IRC? You can't just kick people without proof or without you seeing it yourself.

This idea is basically on the level: It's good to have, but we can easily survive without it.

The things that are on the top of my list are in the level: Needs to be added, would add something new to the gameplay or improve something to the gameplay experience itself.

Answers to your posts.

1- I have been administrating some servers from IRC and i have seen rule breakers many times being kicked or banned. You can ask it from a regular IRC user.

2- I didn't get your answer.

3-You can add death, join, leave mesgs, like adding everything what normal In game chat has. Every good VC:MP server displays these things.

You talk about adding other stuff into the server yet you don't care about devolping IRC that much which is basically a basic devolpment for the server. You don't have to put it aside because you don't use it. See in the above replies made by people if they are against it or they want it.

Well, I have to agree with Sardar on that point. Yet, IRC's Related discussion should not be a controversy or something. We just want to add more commands to the IRC and death messages to appear. In that way, It would be really helpful at least to catch some of the rule breakers and not all. If some player reports a rule-breaker or a hacker in-game and we would be doing some other jobs at that time, On beholding the IRC messages I can just hop in to the server and catch the rule breaker and get him/her punished. Despite the fact that I must hop into the server it could have been better if we could make some cmds to punish the rule-breakers from the IRC itself and to be honest, you can't catch a hacker through the IRC but you can use the 'slap' command from irc to check if the guy who has been accused of hacking, is really a hacker or no. So that's how IRC is going to help us. Adding further commands into IRC would be great and indeed would solve issues for admins like me, kakan, Sardar, Lucky and other(s) who stay at the IRC whole day long. Very Happy

IRC, Is also available on all platforms, Therefore being Platform-Independent. So I can even catch a hacker and punish the suspected hacker through my Android Phone.

Well, if you use some cmd like $pos hacker and the next second he is 10 miles away (and this keeps on happening), you will be sure he is a hacker.

Let me get a couple of things straight because it's annoying me:
- Yes having commands on IRC benefits the server and there is no reason not to add them.
- I think there are more important things to add before those IRC commands. Since I am the only one scripting and actually spending time & money on this server, that's my decision to make. I have listened to your feedback and honestly you haven't given me one reason why it's urgent to have it right now.
- I hardly get any help and I hope crystal will help out with this.
- Please stop trying to convince me that I am wrong. I have listened to enough feedback and I have made my decision to not script it myself until I am done with more important things. Crystal on the other hand might do something.
