Mate I'm just trying to make it easy for you. Look let me give you a math lesson.

So do you know how 8 + 8 = 16? Think of it like this ( Cool

(+)(

=16 so 8 is multiplied by the formula of + and then multiplied by 8 which equals 16. Now you need to find the formula of +. Use a + b = c as an example and use algebra to find the formula of +. When you're done then do the same with - and then multiply the 2 formulas together.

This sounds more like a riddle and some math riddles are designed to trick you. I almost fell for it as well. After night 15 the priest will be able to climb up on the 16th day.

5-4 = 1 inch per 24 hours. So after 15*24 hours he would've climbed 15 inches. On day 16 he climbs 5 inches and comes up Before night.
