Real storage problem [Real nerds only]
I'm sure that none know about that but nowadays there is a tech war between geeks in Egypt about who is right
Gigabyte = what in megabyte?
And there are 4 types of storage: Gigabyte, Gibibyte, Gigabit and Gibibit
What is the difference
And some people said there are two units:
Gigabyte and Gibibyte while one is based on binary system and the other is based on the Decimal system and there is a reason that a 1 TB Hard Disk is equal to 950 GB "approximately"
So I'll be very satisfied if the nerds here explained this story to us :v

Re: Real storage problem [Real nerds only]
i want to spam so that i will reply
First there two noob systems
Decimal and Binary
Gigabyte = 1024 MegaByte (Decimal)
GibiByte = 1024 MebibBye (Binary)
Every Character = 1 Byte
so
Bit > Byte > Kilo > Mega > Giga > Tera > Peta > Exa > Zetta > Yotta
1 Byte = 8 Bits :v
1 Bit = 1 Binary Value ( 1 / 0)
and since nab 8 Bit = 1 Byte = Character
so that in the one byte we will use table with 8 places to represent that
you make a table:
Input| 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8| <Place
V | |
0| 0 | = 0 < Output or result
1| 1 | = 1
2| 1 0 | = 2
3| 1 1 | = 3
4| 1 0 0 | = 4
A| 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 1 | = a
a| 0 1 1 0 0 0 0 1 | = A
and so on
so if gigabyte = 8 000 000 000 bits
then gigabit = 1024
then Gigabyte = 8
and why TeraByte = 1024 GB why you take it as 950
because in companies they deal with 1 GB = 1000 Byte so that they remove 24 Byte
so for each Gigabyte in TeraByte , Remove 24 Byte
at concultions:
Gigabyte and GigaBit are in the same type aka "Decimal"
GibbiByte and GibbiBit are in their same type aka "Binary"
GibbieByte = 1.07374182 GB because of 0.07374182 are some deffrencies between Binary and Decimal calculating
because Binary has more accurate with that.

Re: Real storage problem [Real nerds only]
Just from the name: GIGA = 10^9
MEGA = 10^6
So there is 1000 Megabytes in a gigabyte. But unfortunately for some reason it is not completely true in the byte case.

Clearly what Zeyad said it's true. Also, stole some of my sentences >.>

Basically forget that SI s!!t, 1 GB = 1024 MB; 1 MB = 1024 KB; 1 KB = 1024 B

So there are 1024 Megabytes in a Gigabyte.
You can see the reason if you convert it to binary (or hexadecimal):
GIGA = 1000000000000000000000000000000 (0x40000000)
MEGA = 100000000000000000000 (0x100000)

Nah I'm right in the general case as I said.
Re: Real storage problem [Real nerds only]
I don't like metric/SI and I like binary which is why I'm defending it. However some people prefer metric/SI and if you do then it's right.Chuck Norris wrote:EK.CrystalBlue wrote:Uhm mateChuck Norris wrote:Just from the name: GIGA = 10^9

SI is the standard, the defintion of GIGA is = 10^9, if bytes uses a different definition for the prefix it's fine, but SI is the standard.

another noob tip
Byte is not bit since i said
8 Bit = Byte Aka Char (Read the table above
Gigabyte : Decimal Storage value that equal = 1024 Byte According to shit decimal shit
GibiByte : Binary Storage that equal 1 073 741 824 Byte According to shit binary
GigaBit: damn its 10^9 that equal 1 Billion Bit , wtf (SHIT DECIMAL)
GibiBit: damn its 2^30 that equal 1073741824 bits, wtf (SHIT BINARY)
so.....
GigaByte = Gibibyte ??
A) well it seems that but according to binary it doesnt
soo
Gigabyte is not Gibibit
in conculotion
Mega or giga or kilo it just for (greek prefix) to say how much it like kilo gram milli gram and so on

GibiBit: damn its 2^30 that equal 1073741824 bits, wtf (SHIT BINARY)
so.....
GigaByte = Gibibyte ??
A) well it seems that but according to binary it doesnt
soo
Gigabyte is not Gibibit
in conculotion
Mega or giga or kilo it just for (greek prefix) to say how much it like kilo gram milli gram and so on

Gigabyte according to decimal/SI is not 1024 bytes. It is 10^9 or 1,000,000,000 bytes.

You didn't answer the question too both of you saying that 1GB = F*cking 1024 in decimal and this is not the damn answer I need. I guess my question is clear enough but Zeyad still fucktard for me

i explained in the first reply , did you understood anyshit? no ofcourse
so let me deal with your traditional brain
i F*cking told you
you must F*cking know that
Mega , Giga , gibi , yocta ,yocto, kilo (are F*cking greek prefixes)
they diffrence in storage!!! and type of them
so according to your brain >...
GibbiByte is (Binary) storage for amount of Bytes that equal : 1 073 741 824 bytes
GigaByte is (Decimal) storage for ammount of bytes that equal : 1 000 000 000 bytes
so that put you in another conclusion (if you have brain)
Giga (that F*cking greek prefix) means that its 10^9
Gibbi(that another F*cking greek prefix) means that its 2^30
and both of them are group of BYTES
no we go to bit
as i said above(if you have good brain like us )
Byte = 8 bit = char
so to find that do the calculations (oh shit i forgot that you dont have brain , so let me do that for you )
GibbiBit is (Binary) storage for amount of bits that equal : 1 073 741 824 bits
GigaBit is (Decimal) storage for ammount of bits that equal : 1 000 000 000 bits
so what is the diffrence to them
---------------------
Type/Diffrence | Type | is group of? |
------GigaByte | Decimal | Bytes
-----GibbiByte | Binary | Bytes
-------GigaBit | Decimal | Bits
------GibbitBit | Binary | Bits
----------------------
understood?, no?
hmm you seems that you dont know what diffrence between binary and decimal (see the table in my first reply) or let me explain it to your rusty brain
Binary aka Binary Numeral system has only 2 inputs/outputs to represent number and characters
usually are 1 , 0 maybe true and false or on and off but the popular one is 1 and 0
and decimal is the normal way that we know
See the table of my first reply that explains how are decimals and binaries
now see another thing for decimal and binaries
Decimal | Binary
0 | 0
1 | 1
2 | 10
so to do some math in binary
1 + 1 = 2 (decimal)
1 + 1 = 10 (binary)
10 + 10 = 100
so after these explainings we hope that your rusty brain understand that

@Blood SuckerBlood Sucker wrote:I'm sure that none know about that but nowadays there is a tech war between geeks in Egypt about who is right
Gigabyte = what in megabyte?
It is very easy
Q: Gigabyte = what in megabyte?
The words giga and mega are prefixes. If we see it in physics then:
giga= 10^9 = 1000000000
mega=10^6= 1000000
If we see in computer then it is counted in 2^n so:
gigabyte= 1024mb
To make calculations easy, it is counted as 1000mb in computer too.
I think that this question is clear now!
Q: There are 4 types of storage: Gigabyte, Gibibyte, Gigabit and Gibibit
What is the difference
I don't know about it as I haven't read it
