[Accepted] Suggestion - Password changes

Hey guys,

in my opinion, we need the following things in the server, they are necessary.

Log Money Transfers
Please include a log file into the server that will log every money transaction made over a certain amount (like if the value of the money transfered is above 50k or something that make the script write a log entry with Date/Time, Person who sent the money, person who recieved the money and amount)
Many people are complaining about money stuff and we need something to look it up please. Shouldn't be too hard to implement something like that.
Password Change for players
Please make a command so that player is able to change his own password when he is logged in, without needing an admin. Always having an admin change your password is kinda retarded to be honest, players should be able to change their own password.

Angel, if you dont have time to implement these things I can do it for you but that just needs to be done.

Harry what he will do if he forget his password and then he came to server? he cant be able to use the command until he login to the server !

In that case admins still have the command /changepassword and they can help this guy out.

I would like to add to the first suggestion so that a player can use a command to view his transaction history of the latest 5 (or any other number) transactions.

Comments to harry's suggestions:

1. Money is not our problem unless it's about a balancing issue. You can just tell them to use /givecash at their own risk. I see no purpose in admins keeping track of this.

2. The only thing I agree on here is that having just /changepassword is stupid. Players should be able to change their on password in privacy. But I don't think they should be able to change their password anytime they want. My idea is to have a command /setpassword that can only be used if you get the permission of a higher level admin. This is pretty easy to implement so I will probably include it in patch 2.3 this weekend.

Doing something with money is not against the rules unless there is a bug exploit that messes up the balance of the server. Not sure if it serves any purpose whatsoever.

The script works like this: If you join the server you "logout" automatically and then login again automatically if you're on the same computer. If you're not on the same computer you have to login to use any commands. There is no way to get around that without maybe using some admin commands or something, but that would be pointless since the admins with that kind of power can already use /changepassword.

I was just thinking of that idea so if someone wabts to know when was the last time he sent money or received. Maybe there was an agreement between two people relating to money and 1 person doesn't remember if he sent money. And also if someone thinks their money got stolen because someone hacked their account account so they can check if they sent it to anyone or not.

Angel today someone said his account got hacked and he lost all his money. That's why I would like to have a log of money transfers. So that we can find out what happened to his account and all that... I dont want to elaborate on that here for everybody to see

i think he said the same thing to me. there is no proof and he cant get hacked unless he gave out his password.

but yes he should implement a log system of everything.

1. I think this will just use up more space and have performance issues.
2. That seems like a good idea. I don't see why admins should give permission. Also you cant abuse that in that way because as long as the command is below a specific line (above that line is only register/login stuff) it cant be used without logging in.

Who would change the password of someones VCMP account on this server... and why. There is no reason to do that. And if it would happen anyway admins can still reverse that.

1 will be good, but 2 isn't good because if someone got hacked, the hacker can change the password. Some hackers hack accounts using a program, software or a script that allow them to view the password of someone, So i think it will be good to let the admins change players passwords.

Well that's same for social media sites, but they don't force users to contact admins.

The logging system: It would be useful but logging so much information is certainly going to affect the performance a lot regardless of what you do. Because it's just going to be mean that more things are sent to the database.

Since I don't consider logging money or anything among those lines, worth it, since we rely on screenshot and videos as proof. I think we shouldn't implement that. For now that's denied. But please post another topic if you want to discuss this thing further.

setpassword was implemented in the latest patch. So that one is implemented. So this topic will be marked as accepted.
