[Denied] Suggestion - NPC moving like in singleplayer
This is a big suggestion from another user who can't post it on the forum.
He wants NPCs that walk around like in singleplayer. Not sure if I can do this, but we'll see. Not top priority now.

I was thinking how it would be if the current NPC vehicles got replaced with the ones in single-player, however came to the decision that it would not be good for DM in world 1. NPC walking around would greatly add to that problem, as DM would not be possible due to no visible difference between player models and NPC models. It may be a good idea if it can be enabled in certain properties where it would be better suited, but I don't think it will work in world 1.

You mean, split the pedestrian's rig into pieces and move each one?

If you play VC single-player, you'll see that the NPCs are a lot more realistic than dummies. Take a look at the pedestrians in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ptetbQCmgzc
These exist in single-player, and the suggestion is to add them to the server as well.

Good suggestion but it's beyond what VCMP can afford. More like impossible.

I never knew that it's possible to add NPCs such as in single-player ones in VCMP. If that's possible it would be amazing. What I guess is possible is as Razor mentioned that we cut the buddies to separate pieces then we animate it so it looks more realistic. If that's the deal I can help to animate them if you are going to make it.

For properties yeah not world 1. The server can maybe tolerate a few. but not too many.

That was a future project I believe I never got the fixed models by Qais so couldn't test it. This suggestion is about adding NPCs that walk around the map in properties.

There is a plugin for this. but that's sorta a plugin in which you basically make fake players that are connected to the server. I think you can record gameplay for them to playback, but you can't really make NPCs in the same way as we can with dummies.

Yeah that's the only issue basically. Not sure if VC-MP can handle it.

It is possible using a plugin but it would like bots that only does a specific thing. You can't for example make them move to any location. You gotta pre-record their moment basically and you can't kill them either.
We could cut the models into different pieces but we are sorta reaching the custom object limit so doing it for all buddies wouldn't be realistic, plus Qais is currently unavailable since I haven't reached him in months.
Even if we do that though, it still sorta looks clunky and not as good as regular animations in singleplayer

Well, we have 2 options which will one of them will have a smaller amount of objects needed for the animation. Like the first option, we cut only the leg, arm, and head so we can give him a small walking animation instead of sliding it can move arms and head too as I said.
The second option would require more objects like we cut the leg to 2 pieces the arm to 2 pieces body to 2 etc.. So we will have a smoother animation but x2 objects needed.
Of course, it wouldn't look like the animation of a single-player NPC as it's more like a solid object not flexible. But it can make the experience way better than sliding objects rotating.
