What's going with the updates
Hey, I think it's been a long time since I actually updated you guys on what's going on. I guess I sorta forgot about it. But I guess I am back now to update you some more.

My life
So as all of you know ever since the start of the Summer I've been waiting to finish my education. First I had to correct some grammatical issues in the thesis and send it for publication. That took about 2 months. Then I had to wait an additional week to get my credits for the thesis. Finally, I had to apply for my degree. All of that is now done and I got my degree. Currently, I am working on perfecting my CV and upload a lot of projects from school up to github to make it easier to find jobs. I haven't applied for any job yet, but I am going to start in the upcoming weeks. I am kinda nervous, but hope everything will go well.

June 2019 Updates - GUI, Script and personal life.

GUI
Some GUI will come in the new patch for everyone to test out to see how it feels with your lag and stuff like that. Nothing too big, but it's a good experiment. I am getting bored of scripting other stuff, it's time we get some GUI scripting in here as well Razz.

Got any GUI ideas to suggest? Feel free to do so.

Future scripts
Apart from GUI I have looked at what you guys actually like to do around the server, which scripts are used and which are not. I have scripted this story thing for a long time, it's time for something else to get some extra time. Hopefully, you'll guys enjoy the scripts I have coming. The wod story is fine and all, but I think I am done with jobs for a while now at least.

Either way the things I am scripting feel fun to me right now and different, so hopefully you guys will feel the same.

April 2019 Updates 2 - Next patch delayed got busy, future content.

Delayed patch
The newest patch is finished but needs to be tested. Unfortunately, I don't want to rush it so I have decided to release it next weekend instead.
It has a few suggestions implemented and a few improvements, but it's mostly adding content to wod and this will be the final content to complete wod.
After that I'll only add a few questlines here and there when I get ideas, but I will mostly focus on other ideas + suggestions.

Those who are doing wod currently hopefully has many missions left to finish until then. Next patch you will be able to do the last 4 missions in the story + continue with David Davis (you'll get about 20 more missions with him, then be able to replay them, with all new dialogues for each one)

Future Content
I don't know how long we will be here for, but what's fun for me is to script challenging and fun things. I've almost had my fun now with this story that has been going on for years. It is my goal at least for myself to bring that story to …

Patch 4.8.2
Will be out on or before April 7th, unless something changes. It will be a minor patch that includes some suggestion, but not all suggestions. It will also add some updates to /wod, which is technically not finished yet.


Future
I am sorry to everyone for focusing so much on /wod especially to those who don't care for it and want other updates. But I want you all to quickly know that /wod is part of the story and /wod is very huge and will most likely be my final big job because I can just keep adding more questlines to /wod. Wod is also the last part before bod 2, which is not something I am going to stress about but I am going to release it this year hopefully. After that our story is finished. But more importantly once I am finished with a few small patches here and there I will be able to focus my attention 80 % on suggestions, improvements and new cool ideas from you guys. Currently going on
As many of you guys know I am currently doing my thesis and is pretty much busy with that. I work with it on weekdays and then on the server on weekends + try to relax a little.

Been so long since I've actually been able to play something. I hope I'll be able to come in-game soon and see you all.

Problem with scripting
I seem to always scripts thing that are bigger and bigger for every patch when it comes to content, when I know you guys prefer simple stuff too. /wod my biggest script job script so far is coming after me working on it for about 4 months or more. I need to really stop with these script and try to release a few jobs/scripts at a time instead. But unfortunately, I always get stuck in something big. I hope that after this patch I will stop scripting huge things that are released in one go and be able to do a few every 2 weeks or 1 month that I …

January 2019 Updates - Rel006 release? Next patch coming when?

It's possible I will release rel006 this weekend. Please note though:

1. I will not be able to release a full patch at the same time as it. It is however possible that I can edit the old file I uploaded and change it a little so there is a joining message explaining.

2. There will be one bug in it and that will be that when you join /onehitkill and other minigames with a score list you will not be able to see the updated version until you make a kill. This was a simple bug I fixed in the next patch and that patch is not ready if I release it this weekend. I might just fix the bug again in the current version since I don't think it was that difficult.

3. I need to rename the file name for some custom weapons because their names are actually causing the vcmp anti hack system to kick a person as soon as they use the weapon. It shouldn't take so long and I have checked so rel003 isn't affected by the name change. You will however be required to download maybe 5-8 …

A huge staff update is coming from all different levels. It's the same one we do every year and we're gonna post it before the end of December. It will hopefully change up quite a few things.

December 2018 Update - Patch 4.7 release date, a problem and rel006 finished (testing left)

Patch 4.7
I made a promise that I will provide you guys with two more patches before the end of the year and Intend to do so with patch 4.7 coming out. I know my promises don't mean much because I can never keep them, but I am going to release a patch before the 16h of December, that marks about 2 months since the last patch. There is a big chance the patch will come in a few days if I decide that it is impossible for me to release /wod (basically a job that is 4-5 times bigger than the usual jobs) in a finished state. Even if I don't release /wod you guys will get other stuff that is hopefully worthy of a patch update. I've added quite a few other things that I think will make the gameplay more fun in the next patch regardless if /wod gets finished or not.

So why has this patch taken so long? Well technically, if you look at our history there are quite a few periods where a patch is released 2 months after the previous one. However, I've wasted about half of my time since october …

About scripting in general
The scripts have to become better and newer for each patch I make. The problem is that I don't want to add another delivery job that will just be the same as the garbage man and pizza boy job. I have to come up with newer and cooler ideas. It's been a busy month for me and I haven't had the energy to script quite that much. I have however been doing quite a few suggestions you guys have been asking for, for a while.

That's why I wanted to make this topic to briefly talk to you.

Planned patches
I have 3 patches that is coming up in the future that I have already planned for. Desmond, BOD 2 and the whole story thing will be wrapped up within 3 big patches, together with of course other content.

The sliding rule only applies to hacking now and not VC-MP glitches. We can't ban VC-MP glitches, because they are part of the game until the developers fix it. I can try to prevent it in scripting, but it's most likely not possible.

NOTE: The rule I added won't be applied until the next patch!

I've added a turbo glitch rule. Anyone caught using it after patch 3.5.2 has been released will receive a first person view ban, which means that they can't use first person view the same way as the rest. Anyone who creates new accounts to use it will just be treated as a ban evader.

"Glitching by killing from a place that isn't accesible without the use of any commands or from a place not possible to get to without penetrating a object/solid (a wall, a roof, a fence, etc.) is not allowed unless there is no wall separating the killer from the victim. Using a weapon to kill someone by a bullet that penetrates a solid wall is also not allowed from any position. If you're caught wall glitching in this way, you will either get a warning, a kick or a temp-ban."

[*]Script abuse: The exploitation of bugs or glitches to bypass a server limit or system is not allowed. Anyone doing this must report it to the scripter. Punishment for breaking this rule includes a warning, kick and a tempban, unless the scripter of the server is planning on a fix for the exploit and allows the exploit to be abused until it's fixed. Examples of known abuses that will give you a punishment: if you find a way to respawn/repair the hunter so you can use it all the time.

I added an account hacking rule, that disallows you to hack Another person account on VKs without getting your own account banned. I didn't discuss this with the management team since, this rule should be here, obviously.

An admin is however not allowed to punish anyone who insults/provokes/discriminates them, they have to report it and the majority and at least 2-3 admins have to agree that he is breaking the rule.

we have updated the text of the discrimination rule a Little according to suggestions made by the management team. the reason for the change is to prevent admins from abusing this rule to their own advantage.

Updated added a new rule that allows us to punish toplist cheaters, that get an unreasonable time in the minigames. The punishment includes a stats reset (for the races) and a temp ban to make sure they don't do it again.

We have now repaired the previous discrimination to make it more fairer and stricter. We have also re-added sex as a protected characteristic and fixed a lot of ways the previous one could have been abused.

This part is now removed from both the insulting and provoking rule. And a small grammar mistake has been fixed in the provoking rule.

Spawn killing rule updated. The old rule had many flaws which caused every admin to have a different meaning of spawn killing. This update attempts to make a common understanding of spawnkilling for both admins and players. Here is the new rule:

You are not allowed to kill a player after they spawn without them having a chance to escape (except by using commands) or within 5 seconds of when they spawn except if they teleport from their location. If the spawned player is attacking other players after they spawn then it's an exception to the spawnkilling rule and if they are killed by another player, it won't count as spawnkilling. Added a rule regarding information of selling world 1 vehicles and properties. The rule does not punish normal players, but is there to inform them that they may lose their vehicle if they have purchased it due to an admin's mistake. Here is the new rule:

An admin is allowed to sell a world 1 vehicle or property in one or more of the following situations: the owner of the vehicle/property has not visited the server for more than 31 days (/lastjoined to check), the owner is banned from the server and won't be able to join for 31 days, or the owner has given permission or requested the vehicle/property to be sold. If the vehicle/property is sold and none of those situations apply, then the admin who sold the vehicle/property is to be punished, the vehicle/property is sold and the new owner (if any) is returned their money. The vehicle/property cannot be bought till the above situations apply. You are no longer to purchase additional world 1 vehicle slots, and you are to own not more than 1 world 1 property.

Another rule update:

If the player being provoked does not break the rule then only the provoker is to be punished. If the player being provoked did break a server rule then the provoker is to be punished according to the punishments outlined in this rule while the provoked rulebreaker is to be punished according to the punishment defined in the rule he broke. Punishment for provoking is a /warn on first offense, tempban for 7 days on second offense, tempban for 2 months on third offense, and a permanent ban on fourth offense.

Slide hacking rule has been updated to give a better definition of slide hacking which also might assist our admins and other players in indetifying slide hacks. The full rule:

Slide hacking is when a player is moving without a normal walking/running movement. Slide glithes are a series of glitches that may have similarity to slide hacking although there is a difference. If a player is slide glitching then on their screen their movement is normal while for others it may somewhat resemble slide hacking, with this information it is clear that slide glitch movement isn't very controllable and does not last long, while on the other hand slide hacking will show a sliding motion on the player's screen and on other players' screens therefore it is controlled movement and will last as long as needed by the player and often can only be turned off or disabled by reconnecting. Such hacks are not allowed and will result in an instant permanent ban.

New rule:

A new rule has been added to prohibit owning more than 4 world 1 vehicles.

You are allowed to own 4 World 1 vehicles, if anyone is found owning more than 4 then his vehicles will be sold by head admins so they are left with 4. This rule does not apply to custom prop vehicles as you are allowed to own as many as the server allows. Also admins are requested to give players the choice to choose which vehicles to be sold where possible. This rule will take effect at 29.10.17 according to server time/date.

You are not allowed to mute evade. Mute evading is when you are muted and you reconnect to get unmuted. First offense will be dealt with a /warn and second offense with a final /warn. Subsequent offenses should be dealt with /tempban with reasonable durations according to severity and offenses. Permanent ban may be used rarely in cases that the player is a frequent mute evader even after several tempbans.

Spamming rule has been changed to Flooding rule as we no longer have the need of the spamming rule as we have the anti spam system and if it's bypassed then the player is to be punished according to the server bypass rule.

Added a note to the death evading rule to clarify. although it was already in affect.

"If you get killed by the same person who you evaded death from before, 10 seconds after the evade, then it won't count as death evade."

  • Aimlock/Aimbot: An external tool that automatically aims on a player without any transitionary rotation. Any player using this type of hack should be given an instant permanent ban.


Rule updated:

  • Wall glitching (III): Glitching by killing from a place that isn't accesible without the use of any commands or from a place not possible to get to without penetrating a object/solid (a wall, a roof, a fence, etc.) is not allowed unless there is no wall separating the killer from the victim. Using a weapon to kill someone by the impact of that weapon that penetrates a solid object is also not allowed from any position. If you're caught wall glitching in this way, you will first get a warning, then get a kick on the second offense and finally get a temp-ban on any subsequent offenses.

Wall glitch rule sentence removed: Using a weapon to kill someone by the impact of that weapon that penetrates a solid object is also not allowed from any position.

The management team voted for removing this rule since it's impossible for this not to happen with people who uses the rocket launcher. The case I used in my example in the topic was this: A player behind a wall next to a door opening (for example cuban cafe) if someone for example shots a rocket at the door opening it's not a rule break, however if a person shots a rocket at the edge of the door it's a rule break. This is kinda stupid and too easy to break.

As always however: Using any weapons from a place not accessible without teleporting or penetrating a solid object is still against the rules, but shooting a rocket at a wall and killing someone from the other side is not (as long as the guy shooting the rocket didn't glitch into a wall himself).

However, punishment may only be issued if a report or a private discussion in the admin section is posted & multiple staff members (at least some over the level 8 as well) are in agreement of the rule break. The reason for this extra check is that the rule is hard to detect.

Added a note to the wall glitching rule explaining property doors:

Note: Property doors in world 1 can be used to create the illusion that this rule is being broken but "from a place that isn't accesible without the use of any commands" very clearly says that the place has to not be accessibly without of the use of any commands, all the time. Since property doors are open by default it's very possible to access those places without having to use a command.

Just quickly updated the toplist cheating rule. I added a command that removes all your race/parkour/death race/stunt time. Everyone who cheats will no be much easier to remove.

Note it won't be possible until the next patch. So if there are any cheaters now in the toplist everyone there will receive a tempban or worse once the new patch arrives.

The idea that toplist cheating okay because everyone else does it is not a valid excuse. You did use hacks after all.

Updated the impersonating rule to avoid players saying another player's nick counted as an offense. Here is the new rule:

  • Impersonating: Impersonating includes using a name as your ingame nickname (set in VC:MP browser settings) in the server which differs only, from another already existing name owned by a VCMP player, with 0-3 letters (excluding a clan tag if it is registered in VKs) depending on the case. This rule does not apply if the staff doesn't find any similarity between the both names or if the person who is being impersonated is okay with it. Players that are caught breaking this rule should be offered a stats transfer and get warned, kicked or banned. If a player is impersonating an admin from the VKs staff or a VCMP developer (users in the Developers group on forum.vc-mp.org) then the severity is increased as it puts the server at risk and therefore a direct permanent ban should be issued.

We've decided to remove this part from the fake message rule: (unless that player gives you their permission or is okay with it).

This means that all types of fake messages now disallowed. I am sorry for those people who likes to joke with their friends, but we can't have double standards and it's going to lead to lots of confusion if we only allow certain amount of fake server messages.

How can you still joke with your friends? I am sure you still can without making it look like the message belongs to us.

Just to remind you all the impersonation rule has also been updated so that it only applies to using an in-game name (that you set in the VC-MP browser) so if you want to play with a friends name or a similar name to your friend you're still allowed to do that with their permission.

Perma-warn system has finally been incorporated into the server rules, all instances of "warn" are now replaced with "perma-warn" to explicitly specify that from now on perma-warns will be used for official warnings and warn will just be used for verbal warning. Here is the note that has been added regarding this update:

Perma-warnings Effective after 15.08.18, perma-warnings will be issued instead of normal warns. /warn will now be used for verbal warnings, but are still not required. For all cases where an admin would previously use /warn, the admin will now use /permawarn and it will also be used for Warnings in reports. After a player has accumulated 3 perma-warnings, then he should be tempbanned for 3, 5, etc days. But a player can still be banned before 3 perma-warnings depending on the rule broken, so if the rule says that a player should be tempbanned on second offense then the player can get banned on his 2nd perma-warn. It does not matter which 3 rules a player has broken to gain 3 perma-warns, the player will be temp banned on the 4th perma-warning regardless and the ban will account for all rulebreaks.

the management team has decided that the vehicle limit for world 1 vehicles will be 3. since the default limit is set at that.

many of you will ask:

why are you doing this? well some really old players are familar with there being something called vehicle upgrades in the past that allowed you to own more than 3 vehicles in one account. that was eventually removed leaving like 99 % of the playerbase stuck with 3 vehicles per account. the reason why we decided to change it from 4 to 3 is simply because it becomes too annoying to keep track of 3 vehicles a player has in one account and 1 vehicle they have in another.

i will make sure no head admin sells a car of people who owns 4 vehicles giving you all a chance to trade them for cash like you always do. do it fast because in 1 week we will start removing one car from everyone who owns 4.

when will this stop will we be able to own 0 world 1 vehicles in the future? no this wont happen. 3 is the default limit we wont put it any lower.

new rule. it was mentioned in an admin topic. 3 out of 6 discussed it, directly. one other management member mentioned in the topic he agreed with it and we are pretty sure no one will mind this basic rule being added.

[*]Pausing the game inside and during minigames: Pausing the game during minigames or special events hosted by Marcus or any bot/Npc in order to win and get the rewards in unfair way isn't allowed. Anyone who is caught doing it should be kicked from the minigame using /minigamekick. Anyone who is doing it frequently should be punished first with a perma-warn and then with a tempban if they continue.

[*]Other evades: All other sorts of evades like drowning, jumping from roof and other ways in which a player dies on purpose so his killer doesn't get credit for it is disallowed. Note that commands that has a timer and/or delay when you type them (like /gotoloc & /goto) doesn't count as evading. Players can only be punished for this if a report is made and multiple admins agree that the death evade was done intentionally. Punishments are the same as for death evading.

Update:

The insulting rule has been modified, adding a line where encouraging suicide/self harm is disallowed. Here's the full insulting rule definition.

Insulting: You're not allowed to insult other players frequently. Insulting someone includes calling players by offensive names and swearing at them. Players who join with an offensive name should be offerred a stats-transfer on the first offense and have their name banned on any subsequent offenses. It's also disallowed to promote or encourage suicide/self-harm to others such as, real-time depictions that might lead others to engage in similar behavior. Self-harm is defined as the intentional and direct injuring of the body, including self-mutilation and eating disorders. If a player is caught insulting another player /ignore is a recommended action. If the player is evading /ignore or insulting a lot of players frequently, a recommended punishment is /mute from the admin. If the player evades the mute more than 2 times and has received several perma-warnings that they will be banned if they don't stop, a temp ban is a suitable punishment.

The old animation commands rule has been updated, it's not possible anymore to get up faster by using animation commands after being hit by a shotgun.

It's no longer allowed to use animation commands in combat to dodge players bullets:

Animation commands: You're not allowed to use animation commands in combat to avoid being hit by players.


Also, added an exception to the wall-glitching rule found in the definition below:

Wall glitching (II): Wall glitching with any weapons are not allowed which means you are not allowed to harm/kill anyone by penetrating any form of solid objects by abusing the VCMP bug using weapons like the sniper, molotov/flamethrower, explosions, chainsaw, melee or just by the fist. However, using explosions through the open area to harm the victim is allowed but it is not allowed to use explosions if the victim is surrounded by walls or any other solid objects. An exception to this rule are objects that can be shown at different places on players' screens due to sync issues e.g a crate, a streetlight, a mailbox (basically an object that can be knocked or moved by players).
If you're caught wall glitching in this way, you will first get a perma-warning, then get a temp-ban.

Update:

Fixed a misunderstanding word from the fake message rule.

Fake messages: You're not allowed to create messages in the chat or in any place where you can put messages that makes it seem like it's from the server or from another player. Anyone caught doing this should be verbally perma- warned on the first offense and muted on the second offense.
